Jewelry Bar Tips

More great tips from the Hoot on how to grow your business through Jewelry Bars in various forms.

Jewelry Bar Express:

Jewelry Bars are a wonderful way to grow and expand your business, and the great news is that you can have a Jewelry Bar just about anywhere!

In addition to an in-home Jewelry Bar, an “Express” Jewelry Bar is one you can do while on the go. It’s quick, simple, lots of fun and provides another way to share our unique jewelry as well as the Origami Owl experience.

Here are a few situations where you may want to consider offering an Express Jewelry Bar:
Someone tells you they are too busy with their kids’ crazy sports schedule: Let her know you can bring an Express Jewelry Bar to a ball field, gymnasium, swim meet or dance studio and share Origami Owl with the other moms during practice.
Someone tells you their house is too small: Let her know an Express Jewelry Bar is perfect for a public location! Encourage her to invite a few friends to a local coffee or sandwich shop.

You know someone who’d like to show the jewelry to her coworkers, but doesn’t have time for a traditional Jewelry Bar in her home: Let her know she could have an Express Jewelry Bar in her office during lunch or right after work.

So what do you take to an Express Jewelry Bar? It’s simple. The Business Basics Starter Package. Take the items listed below, add 1 hand held mirror, 1 pair of reading glasses and 1 white cloth napkin.

• 1 tray with Charms
• Lockets
• Chains
• Tags
• Plates
• Votives
• Tweezers
• Take Out Menus
• Order forms
• A few pens
• Hostess folders
Simply put the above items in the beautiful Origami Owl blue box that you received when your kit first arrived – our brand attracts attention! To set up, place the Living Lockets™, Chains, Plates, and Tags on a white cloth napkin for a clean look. Set out a mirror, reading glasses, Take Our Menus, order forms, pens and one tray with some Charms and Dangles in it. Give each person a votive, a pair of tweezers, then show them how to start their creation!

Once people experience this, they are often very receptive to hosting their own Jewelry Bar, either in home or express!

Host your Own Jewelry Bar:

Schedule a specific day every month to host your own Jewelry Bar, for example the second Thursday of every month.

When you have a specific day set aside, it’s easy to invite people - those who have yet to attend a Jewelry Bar, as well as new people you meet while out and about.

You may want to consider having this monthly Jewelry Bar in a public place, such as a coffee shop or local bakery. If you live in part of the country where it’s still cold outside, establishments such as ice cream parlors or snow cone shops may be fairly private and appreciate your business! A public venue makes it very comfortable for someone you don’t know well to stop by and experience a Jewelry Bar.

When inviting people you meet while out and about, hand them an invitation with the date, time and location. When inviting people by phone, email an invitation right after you talk. Let everyone know they’ll get to have some fun with jewelry and see what Origami Owl is all about.

During the Jewelry Bar, hand each person a votive, a pair of tweezers and show them how to begin creating their look. Let them know they are welcome to place an order, however, they also have the option to receive their favorites for free by hosting a Jewelry Bar of their own. This is another great opportunity to use the ‘Chain and 3 Dangle’ Pop Up Shop scheduling tool to book three future Jewelry Bars!

Hosting your own monthly Jewelry Bar is a great way to attract new customers, Hostesses and potential new Designers. It’s also a great way to train your new Designers. Once they observe you and see how easy it is, encourage them to hold their own monthly Jewelry Bar as well!

To Have Extra Inventory or to Not

To Have Origami Owl Inventory or To Not Have Inventory is a question that is always asked by new designers. Origami Owl is a unique company because designers are able to run their business how they want and what works for their life style. There are pros and cons to both ways of running your business and then there is always the option of doing both.

I love Origami Owl because once someone sees a locket, it sells itself. I think you are smart business person when you look for a business that is something that people want and not just what you like. Origami Owl is just that.

Having an Inventory Based Origami Owl business

Having lots of inventory on hand can definitely have its perks. The great thing about having inventory is that you can sell for personal orders and at events. Your customers are able to take their order home that day or night. Cash and carry is great for Events and then you can just order the items that they may need if you don't have it - huge instant gratification when they can take it with them. We all know that being women and shoppers, we tend to be impulsive buyers and when we see something we love we want it right away...the longer it takes to order, the easier it is to change your mind and make excuses of why you shouldn't buy it yet. Plus we all carry a card...so it just makes it so easy to swipe away :). We love to have our goodies immediately. Also having inventory on hand allows friends or family members who need a quick gift to come over any time they want to purchase things or for them to buy a charm here or there to add to their locket. Doing this will allow for your inventory to fly off the shelves. They save on the time it would take to ship to them. You will make a ton of money immediately if you have stuff on hand but……here is the con and the idea behind having an order based business.

Orders for Jewelry Bars with a Hostess

Origami Owl is not Hostess Reward Sponsored, meaning that the company will cover the hostess rewards; therefore, in order for the Hostess to receive FULL credit on all her party orders the orders must be placed under her Party ID Number. If you have a customer that needs the order for a quick gift, you can allow those customers to do make in take from your inventory but you will need to reorder those new inventory items that equals that Order total so that the Hostess still receives credit and you can replenish your inventory by having those orders shipped to you.

Having an Order Based Origami Owl Business

Origami Owl is a party planning company. The idea is have parties, fill your calendar with bookings and interest people in regards to running their own Origami Owl business. If people think they can just purchase Origami Owl whenever they want, they are way less likely to book parties . Sales are you paycheck for today, Bookings are your paycheck for tomorrow and Recruits are your paycheck for years to come. ” When you have parties on your calendar, you are guaranteed 5-15 people per party. That is a lot of people to be in front of to 1. sell lockets 2. book more parties and sell more lockets and 3. talk to people about joining your team. So let’s just say, you keep inventory and you see 10 people a month who buy. If you booked 4 parties, that would be on average 40 buying customers who would probably book more parties (with more people) and probably 4 to 5 of those people would want to start their own business. See the potential here?

Yes having inventory is great for events or craft fairs. It gets the products out there but even with events, the key is to network and talk about how great having jewelry bars would be. We all like to sell product and get immediate cash but the big money is in the long haul.  I do have a little inventory for prizes and those last minute gifts for my VIP customers but I truly focus on bookings and recruiting.  Origami Owl became a party planning business to share their lockets at girls nights out and let people have the experience.  That is what it is all about. As I said there are pros and cons to each but I believe if you want to have a successful long term business, designers need to focus on being in front of people and sharing how amazing Origami Owl truly is.

How to Plan your Launch Party

Congrats on becoming an Origami Owl Designer!! I always tell my new designers that it is so important to have a Launch party after you sign up and to not put it off. The best way to get comfortable and familiar with Origami Owl is to put yourself out there and learn as you go! There is no way that you could possible learn it all in a matter of weeks. I always tell my Designers to Host their own Launch Party! Some reasons why this is a great idea:

  • Best Perk, you will make yourself the Hostess and earn free product, half off items, earn the Hostess Exclusive to show off at future Jewelry Bars + more to add to your inventory to display!
  • Allows you to introduce your new business with family and friends and get their support! After all that is what friends and family are for and they want to see you succeed!
  • Once they come and see the product, buy and wear it, you will start to build that customer base because they will help you market your business just by wearing the product. You can also ask them to host a party. It only takes that 1 person outside of your circle to open up a whole new customer base!
  • You will gain experience at your first party by learning how to set-up a Jewelry Bar Party in the Back Office, speaking about the product, completing the order forms and placing your first Jewelry Bar order/closing a party.

Keep the launch party simple and don't focus so much on selling but for you to practice, generate interest, leads and future bookings. Remember the three P's: Preparing, Planning and Presentation.
When you have a designated email address just for your Origami Owl business, it tells everyone you are OPEN FOR BUSINESS!You will be sending out emails about your new business to prospective customers and hostesses.  Send out an email to let everyone know that your now an Origami Owl Independent Designer! Here is a sample email script your welcome to use and feel free to edit it to make it your own,

Hi ____________- I am so excited to announce that I have recently started my own business as an Origami Owl designer. Origami Owl is an amazing company founded by a 14 year old girl just 2 years ago with a dream of saving enough money to purchase her first car.
The Living Lockets are so adorable and unique that I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to become a designer myself. Every jewelry creation serves as a reminder of who you are, where you have been, where you are going and the dreams you carry in your heart. So, look inside yourself to create fun, fashionable, meaningful jewelry that is as unique as you are.
For those of you that don't know about direct sales, we depend on the support of family and friends, and it grows from there.  I am asking if you would be willing to host an in-home party, catalog party or virtual Facebook party with me.   All of these 3 options are quite simple and you, as the hostess, earn hostess exclusive items, discounted jewelry and free product!
Origami Owl Jewelry Bars are a great opportunity to get together with family, friends and neighbors while checking out gorgeous, meaningful jewelry. Origami Owl Jewelry Bars are always so much fun and very easy to host!  I will be your party planning partner and will help you every step of the way to plan a very successful jewelry bar.
Origami Owl has released the new catalog with so many new products and styles which makes this the perfect opportunity to have a party.  Your friends and family will love all of the new products and be able to purchase a special keepsake that they will cherish for years to come.

It has given me the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others, by giving them the chance to express themselves, their story, with jewelry!!  I could not have done it without the help and support of my friends and family.
Please feel free to contact me at ########@gmail.com with any questions."

First & Foremost:
Relax and Have a Good Time!! You want to show people that you love your business. If they see you having fun…..they usually want to join too

PREPARING:

  • Set a date for your launch party within the first 7-10 days of receiving your starter kit.

  • Share the date with your mentor and see if she can attend your Launch Party for support and guidance. If not, see if she can be available by phone in case you have any last minute questions.

  • Share the excitement with your friends and family by inviting them to see what Origami Owl is all about. Use your A.L.I.C.E. Who Do you KNOW?? USE A.L.I.C.E. TO LIST EVERYONE YOU KNOW! Here’s an acronym that can help you create a contact list of everyone you know – friends, family, coworkers, people you do business with and people you meet while out and about. Include a variety of folks from diverse groups so you can branch out and share Origami Owl® with people from different circles of your life. You can also share this acronym with your Hostesses to help them create their guest list for their upcoming Jewelry Bar®. Did you know only 25% of your invites will actually show up so make sure you over invite!!!· Begin calling everyone to encourage them to save the date.

  • Consider using different invite methods since not everyone uses the same form of communication. Create a Facebook event, Send out Invites VIA MAIL, Send use the Back Office to send out E-vites and use red stamp to text or email them a digital invitation to share with others. I always recommend to my designers to mail out invites and send out about 10 -12 days in advance.
Encourage guests to bring a friend or family and offer a little something special for those that do this.

PLANNING
When planning your Origami Owl® Launch party, NEVER have an Open House! You are having a party, better you a JEWELRY BAR!!

Consider doing the Magical 2-3-2 Jewelry Bar Method, this approach allows you to provide a variety of times that people can work with around their busy schedule.

What is the 2-3-2 Formula?
2 Days – 3 Times – 2 Hours Each
Number of Jewelry Bars you are having = 3
Same work but 3 times the chance to party!!

By using this formula you can double or triple the number of possible guest but be clear in your invitation wording that you have several choices in times to attend.  Have a time set that is kid friendly as this is most often the reason people cannot come and have a “girl’s night, no kids” for those that want to have a break as well.

Suggested Wording for Your Invitations:   “Hello!  As you may have heard, I have started an exciting new business venture as an Independent Designer with Origami Owl®!  Origami Owl® is a fun and unique way to tell your personalized story through our customized Living Lockets with charms, plates, dangles, and our Tagged collection.  The product has touched me, and I decided that I wanted to be a part of it.  The company is very new, and the growth and demand has been unprecedented.   I will be launching my business this weekend [dates], with a Jewelry Bar in my home.  It’s a great way to get hands-on, design your own locket, and see what it’s all about.  Please choose one of the following dates, and let me know if you can stop by!
Date 1:
Date 2:
Date 3:

LIKE my Facebook page: [insert FB link]
FOLLOW me on Pinterest:  [insert Pinterest link]

Thank you so much for supporting me and my business.  I look forward to seeing you at one of my launch parties!”

Follow-up 2-3 days before your party with phone calls, text messages, and emails as a reminder and a way to keep the lines of communication open with your guests.  Even post a Facebook update to remind your friends of your exciting event they certainly do not want to miss!

You do not need to have a lot of inventory to have a lovely display, keep it simple and remember that even though we are called Origami Owl, don’t put owls all over your display. The primary focus needs to be the jewelry, so consider 1 white owl for your display. Aqua and white as your primary display colors, with pops of pink, coral, silver, or black. If you’re not ready for a lot of out of pocket expense just have jewelry bust or shadow box, where you can display or hang the necklaces.

  • Use the checklist to make sure your prepared with all the right tools for your party:
  • Have opportunity packets made (Opportunity Flyer, Catalog, Business Cards, Product Points of Difference, Career Plan and Soar to Success Flyer.)
  • Have host packets made up (Hostess Exclusive Flyer, Business Cards, Order forms (3-5), 2 Catalogs, Opportunity Flyer, Hostess Steps to Success, Products Points of Difference and a hostess letter created by you or find one that others have shared on Facebook.)
  • Have business cards made before your party.
  • Have order forms filled out with your name as the consultant, the tax rate and the shipping cost.
  • Separate your charms out into the different categories, that way customers know what they are looking at.
  • Have a calculator, money bag or something to put customer’s money/checks in and plenty of pens.
  • Practice how to set up your display
  • Practice what to say and how to answer questions
  • Get your systems in place as far as checkout
  • Practice talking to people about the opportunity.
  • Don't go overboard with food... keep it simple!  Everyone will be more focused on your beautiful Lockets and not on the food!
PRESENTING
Now it's time to set up that beautiful, new starter kit you received!  One question I always receive from new Designers is whether or not the new kit has enough to show off at your first couple of parties.  Absolutely!!  Origami Owl® provides you with a starter business kit so that you will have enough supplies to have a show of your own. You will place orders online for anything customers order at your launch.  Try to place orders within 24 hours. It is okay to use your products as advertisements and take orders; just allow enough time for delivery of the orders for those who purchase for the purpose of gift giving.

{A few tips and tricks to help you with your Jewelry Bar}
Remember the 4 B’s when you close each sale.

  1. Better Sales –Encourage them to compliment their orders with additional items and recommend great gift ideas.
  2. Bookings - Remember to show the benefits of being a Hostess and ask for future bookings during checkout.
  3. Business Opportunity – Share how O2 can help them to start living their dreams.
  4. “By the way” – Ask for referrals..”who do you know?”
Take a look at your Calendar for the next two months.  Choose the dates that will fit into your schedule.  Make a list of YOUR closest open party dates.  Let guests choose which day they want to hold their parties from your available dates.  If you give a gift for booking a party –tell them to choose their favorite charm and you will give to them the night of their party. Make sure to add their jewelry bar date to your Calendar right away and provide with a hostess packet before they leave the party.

Set up a little check out area with your Opportunity packets, hostess packets and Business Cards.  You also want to have your calculator, smart phone, a pen and your Calendar/Planner with you as well during the checkout process.  I have one catalog with tabs that are labeled so that it is easier and faster for me to flip to sections when taking orders.

Launch parties are entirely OPTIONAL.  If you want to jump straight into hosted Jewelry Bars, that’s great!  These are just a casual way to generate interest and get booking leads.  If you already have them, you’re ahead of the curve.

Don't forget to take a deep breath, relax and have fun!  Have a great time showing off your new business to your friends and family.  Your excitement will be contagious, your guests will want to be a part of it too whether it's joining your team or hosting a party.  Good luck!  You’re going to be amazing.

Jewelry Bar/Online/Business Supply Orders

Which way do you need to order?

Customers Online Orders on YOUR website:
One way is your customer orders through your website. Online Orders will shipped directly to the customer and you can view their contact information by going to the back office, hove over "Orders" and select Order Summary and to the right you will click on "Completed" Orders. Once it ships, it will change to “shipped” and you will see the tracking information in a blue link. When a customer orders online and attaches it to a jewelry bar you will see the hostesses name in Jewelry Bar Code section and these orders will ship immediately and will not be held for shipment until the party closes.

Wholesale Orders:
When you are ordering for your own stock, or ordering for a client that paid YOU (all checks should be made to YOU!) with cash or check, or you used your own credit card processes, such as Pay Anywhere/Square/Paypal, you can place a wholesale order for them to keep the commission upfront. This is something you can do for individual orders that are not attached to a Jewelry Bar Party. Since you are charging them the Retail Price and your ordering at the discounted whole sale price you will want to pay for this order with your own debit/credit card, but are only paying the wholesale pricing. You will receive your commissions immediately when the customers pay with these forms.  Please note that you will not earn Hostess Rewards for orders under the wholesale tab, only in a qualifying party through the Jewelry Bar Tab.

**Please see the Training Material Documents located in the 02 Lounge/Document Library/Training Materials for all the update webinars and PDF's for the new system.

Once you log in to your back office, you will find yourself on the home page. Look at the top left side of the
menu bar and hover over the “Orders” tab and select “New Designer Order” from the drop down menu.
Remember, this is just for orders that you want to place for yourself as a Designer!

There are four main steps to placing a Designer wholesale order:
1. Designer info
2. View cart
3. Payment
4. Cart summary

Because the wholesale order you are placing is for yourself, your billing and shipping information will show up in
the fields automatically You will notice that when your adding items to your shopping bag that they are listed as retail price, once checkout and apply payment for your order you will be to view the wholesale cost for your order.

Business Supply Orders
You can also order business materials here too. To order your business materials from your back office hover over “Orders” on the menu bar at the top of the page and select “Business Supply Order” in the drop down menu. Please note, that you cannot combine a business material order and a jewelry order.
Immediately a "Quick Order Pad" will appear for you to enter the item number and the quantity you desire. If you do not know the item number, close the "Quick Order Pad" and click on "Product Search" button, go to "Category" drop down menu and click on "Business Materials". You can then search by the description name or keyword and then click on "Search" to find the item or items you desire. Currently the "Continue Shopping" button does not work for finding business materials.

Jewelry Bar Party/Online Party and Credit Card Orders:
When you book a Jewelry Bar party you will want to create a new Jewelry Bar along with your Hostess' information by hovering over "Jewelry Bars" in the top menu and clicking on "Open/New Jewelry Bars" from the drop down menu. On this page you will enter the Hostess' name and information as well as the date for her jewelry bar and whether or not it is an Online Catalog Party or an In Home Jewelry Bar. You can change the Hostess address at the time of closing out the party to your Designer address to have all the orders shipped to you for the $4.00 group shipping rate (Currently the designer selection does not offer the group rate). I like orders to be shipped directly to me so that I can look over all the items carefully for quality/defective/missing items. This allows me to submit missing/replacement forms for the customer and the chance to pull from my inventory if I have the item that they need on hand to fulfill their order immediately and replenish my inventory with the replacement once I receive it back from the nest.

Guest can receive "e-vites" now through the back office, you must obtain their first and last name and e-mail address in order to send this out. Have the hostess provide you with out of town contacts and those that can't attend because they can order online by entering in her Jewelry Bar Code and using her shopping link provided in her confirmation e-mail. Online ordering is a great option for guests who can't attend the party, their order can be shipped directly to them and immediately...Best party their order is NOT held until the party closes.

When a guest wants to order that can’t attend the party, or you are having an Online Catalog Party, they will simply select the shopping link that they received in their e-mail and in the Customer Info screen they will need to enter the Hostess' Jewelry Bar code to ensure she receives credit for their order.

In order to qualify for Hostess Rewards (see the hostess rewards here) http://origamiowl.com/hostess/index.cfm a Party must have a minimum of four orders and a total of $125. One of those orders can be the hostess order; however they must order something in addition to the hostess rewards for her order to count. With a qualified order, each guest will pay a  $4.00 group shipping rate (Shipped to the hostess or yourself) and the hostess will earn free shipping. Items are taxed at the Full Retail Price and includes items the hostess has received for Free and at discount.

***Please see the New System Training materials in the O2 Lounge and select Document Library on the Left menu bar. Scroll down to Training Materials to locate the "How to Place A Jewelry Bar Order" document.

Designer is the Hostess!!
Designers can make their self a Hostess and Host their own Jewelry Bar to receive the Hostess Rewards. This is a great option for Launch parties, stock up on inventory, gifts and for a new locket for yourself.

Customer Credit Card Payments for Orders
If you are completing Jewelry Bar Orders and a customer is paying with a Credit Card, that you did not process through your own reader, which is not needed for party orders because you can write down their credit card information on the order form and enter that information into the back office when closing out the Jewelry Bar, you can apply their credit card information as you enter each Guest's order. If they paid with cash/check, then you need to deposit that money into your business checking account and can enter all payments at the same time as a final step. The Hostess can increase her Hostess Rewards by purchasing items she desires at the full retail price in the "Purchase items at Retail" section.  When you "Continue to Payments" you can add one or multiple payments to the entire Jewelry Bar at this time. As a Designer, you can also use this link to pay for shipping or for free items for Guest. The Subtotal information will include a "Less Commission," If you have retrieved Credit Card information for all Customers you will enter in their Retail Total which will give you an overage that will appear for example ($248.00) like this. If Customers paid via check our cash you will have the option to deposit that money into your account and pay at whole sale cost to keep that commission up front or pay the entire party at retail cost to receive the commission the following week from the nest. This is the option that I recommend because it is easier to track for tax purposes and you know the accurate amount that you should receive on your PayQuicker Commission Check. Otherwise you will need to remember which orders you kept commission for upfront and which ones you paid at full retail cost.

I recommend using a Card Reader at events for Make & Take to ensure that the payment processes immediately and you are not allowing the customer to walk away with product prior to running their credit card. Read below on how to get your Pay Anywhere card swiper for Free.

This does come in handy for individual orders not associated with a party, expos, craft fairs, events and etc.  It is not necessary for Jewelry Bars because you can process the customer credit cards through your back office in the Jewelry Bar section.

How to Create a Virtual Locket

I have been introduced to a new addiction and it is called PicMonkey!! It is a fantastic website that many have used to create those beautiful Origami Owl ® virtual lockets floating around Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter. It is a great tool that designers can use to show customers what their “visualized locket” will look like or to create unique pieces for flyer's, giveaways or other marketing materials.  I personally use the PicMonkey site, PicsCollage Ipad App and PicsArt Ipad App  to make all of my virtual lockets. PicMonkey is easy to use and most of us already have it on our computers. I have been approached by many other designers on how I create my flyer's and virtual lockets, so I found this tutorial to be very helpful. I hope that you find it helpful as well.
